Local athletes in NCAA D1 Tournament

Hundreds of Washington state high school girls go on to play volleyball at the next level ... well over a thousand colleges and universities compete in various divisions.

321 schools are members of the NCAA Division 1, and 64 qualified  for this season's D1 Tournament.

Here are the thirteen athletes we've identified who attended high school in Washington and are now members of tournament teams:

How the Top 20 fared: Friday, October 28, 2011

An exciting night of volleyball, as big-time teams went head-to-head.

Stanford's easy victory over USC was my biggest surprise; I also figured Cal would beat UCLA (they didn't.)

Florida's loss (again) to Tennessee proves the SEC is no longer Snow Gator and the 11 dwarfs ... and tonight's match at 20-4 Kentucky could be a barn-burner.

As usual, Minnesota under-performs against weaker teams (losing to Northwestern), but could still threaten #3 Illinois tonight.
