NCAA | 2013 Volleyball Tournament bracket announced

Washington seeded #3, will host Alabama State on December 6-7

[12.02.13 | 8AM | CORRECTION: Alabama State defeated Alabama A&M in the SWAC Tournament final, and Jackson State in the semifinal]

SEEDING

  • Washington is seeded # 3 in the 64-team tournament.
  • Only the top 16 teams are seeded; all 16 seeds host the first two rounds of the tournament.
  • The top four national seeds:
1. Texas
2. Penn State
3. Washington
4. Missouri


HOSTING

  • Washington will host the first two rounds of the Tournament in Alaska Airlines Arena on December 6 & 7

FIRST OPPONENT

  • Washington’s first opponent is Alabama State
  • Last week, the Hornets beat Jackson State 3-1 in the Southwest Conference Tournament semifinals, then won a 5-set cliffhanger (18-16 in the final set) over Alabama A&M for the title.
  • ASU is 25-15 overall.

REGIONAL

  • The winner of the Seattle subregional advances the following week to the Los Angeles Regional, hosted by USC.
  • The four seeded teams in the Regional are:

    "For the first time in the program's history, the Alabama State University volleyball program has won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament when they defeated Alabama A&M 3-2 (28-30, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 18-16) in today's championship game. With the championship comes the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, also another first in the program's history....."
