2:30pm today: webstream link for Washington's match

As you might have discovered if you tried to watch any of yesterday's first-round action, locating the webstream can be a bit of a challenge for some locations.

Your best bet to see the Washington vs. Western Michigan match this afternoon at 2:30pm (Pacific Time) is to go to the NCAA Tournament page on the University of Minnesota website. (see below) Although the broadcast is being handled by the Big Ten Network (BTN), viewing the webstream is supposed to be free.

As always, Washington's Director of Volleyball Operations, Paul Isaac, will moderate a live chat from Minneapolis on gohuskies.com.

You can also follow via Gametracker.

  1. It's interesting to see the variations in live TV coverage. The Minnesota-based commentary and single camera video, plus what was for me a slow stream, was aggravating when it wasn't funny. "Caylin Moonyoze" was the best and most frequent; I'm pretty sure I heard "Jim LaGlaflan" and some others. The commentator's voice was in continual clip (distortion), adding to the aggravation, and the continually-panning camera was not good for anyone with a sensitive stomach. Watching it smaller while also watching the Huskies' live chat made that better.

Kentucky/Texas A&M, which I'm watching now, is an NCAA-originated (?) video with Aggie commentary. The video quality is top notch, with lots of replays from different angles despite the main single-camera feed. The audio is crystal-clear with higher-bitrate streaming, and the commentators are being balanced although clearly wanting the home team to prevail.

Tried to watch the Purdue match, which came from the Purdue website, but the video was tiny even at full-screen, and the audio streaming was so low-bitrate that the background artifact noise was intolerable.

Interesting, too, to see how closely other places put seats and tables to the ends of the court compared to at Hec-Ed. At Texas A&M/Kentucky the long-hitting servers were often standing between spectators' feet. The tables at each end of the Minnesota court were surprising.

    FWIW.
