Courtney Thompson and Tamari Miyashiro, both alumni of the University of Washington, were selected today as members the 2012 USA Olympic women’s volleyball team.

Thompson, a multi-sport athlete at Kentlake High School, will be one of two American setters at the London Olympics. The three-time first-team All American was captain of the Huskies’ volleyball team from 2003-06, and won the 2005-06 Honda Award as the nation’s top collegiate women’s volleyball player.

Miyashiro, from Kaneohe, Hawai’i, will be a libero/defensive specialist. She was the UW’s libero from 2006-09, after redshirting during Washington’s 2005 National Championship season. Miyashiro was twice named national defensive player of the year.
