NCAA | Media poll also ranks Washington volleyball #2

Volleyball Magazine media poll closely tracks AVCA coaches’ poll

As the nonconference part of the volleyball schedule comes to an end, teams from the Pac-12 and Big Ten continue to dominate the national polls.

In the week four Volleyball Magazine media poll, each conference landed six teams among the top 20. The Big Ten’s Penn State was once again number one, with the Pac-12’s Washington repeating at number two.

The preseason was marked by several matchups between top-ranked teams. Defending national champion Texas offers an interesting benchmark: the Longhorns defeated Penn State, San Diego, Stanford, Illinois and Nebraska, while losing to Hawai’i and Arizona State. Upstart San Diego, by comparison, beat USC, Hawai’i, Iowa State and Illinois, losing only to Texas and BYU.
