For the second time this young season—and the fourth time in
her career—the Pac-12 Conference has
named Washington’s Krista Vansant its Offensive Player of the Week.
Last Wednesday in Pullman, the junior outside hitter
recorded 13 kills and just two errors on 25 attempts (.440), as the Huskies
handed the Cougars their first loss of the season.
Friday night in Eugene, Vansant added another 17 kills,
hitting .295 for the match. Vansant had one of the best blocking weeks of her
career, recording four block assists against Washington State and five more against the Ducks.
Colorado’s Nikki Lindow was named Defensive Player
of the Week, after putting up 12 blocks in the Buff’s first-ever victory
against UCLA. USC’s Ebony Nwanebu won
her second Freshman of the Week award after getting a combined 27 kills against
UCLA and Utah.
In the latest AVCA coaches’ poll, Washington is ranked #1 in
the nation, and USC is #2. See: Washington volleyball rises to #1 in national coaches’ poll.
