This week’s Volleyball Magazine/Asics media poll once again closely tracks
yesterday’s coaches’ poll.
The coaches showed slightly more
love than the media toward Washington,
Hawai’i, Illinois and Kentucky.
The media had a higher opinion of Texas
and Northern Iowa.
In case you missed it, Northern Iowa’s only loss this season
was a 5-set nonconference home match against Minnesota. The Panthers have two early-season nonconference wins against ranked teams: Florida State and Iowa State. Their conference wins have come against the likes of Illinois State, Indiana State, Missouri
State, South Dakota State, etc. It
took the Panthers five sets to defeat North
Dakota State, 20-28 in the final frame.
Volleyblog Seattle is a new
voter this season in the media poll. Nine media “regulars” cast their votes,
and the rest of us have our votes averaged for the tenth vote. Volleyblog
Seattle’s vote in this week’s poll is broken out in the right column.
