#2 Washington @ #5
Oregon | October 13 | 7PM
The Oregon Ducks are pulling out the stops promoting
Saturday’s Washington match. Glass-and-steel Matt Court is bracing for
thousands of green & yellow fans … one estimate put Oregon’s hopes as high
as 7,000. [The marketing motto: “This Saturday … No Football? … No Problem”]
Hosting the nation’s only undefeated D1 team is a big deal
in Corvallis, too. If you’ve never been to Gill Coliseum, it’s a creaky, warm,
wonderful throwback to the early days of the old Pac-8.
Here’s what we can tell you so far:

Thanks for doing this great volleyblog! I drove down from Seattle to see both matches, wearing my foam Husky head and purple shirt, and had a beer with Jenna Orlandini's parents on Friday in Corvallis at the hotel bar after the match (by chance, we were the only people there). After buying some yummy fig bars at REI in Eugene, and two delicious trips to Yogurt Extreme, I found that Oregon sells both GA and reserved seats for Matthew Knight Arena. Section 104 is behind the visitors set 1 bench and row AA is the closest down (but note that it is higher up compared to Alaska Airlines Arena/Hec Ed). The players' families sat in the end zone area, but I liked the view of the action at the net from my seat better. I put some pics on Instagram, my username there is scrudgie. I'm thinking about buying a real camera to get better action pics than from a smartphone; I will try out the "burst mode" app for Stanford and Cal photos this weekend. Go Dawgs! -- David
